On being laid-off

After four years in tech and almost 20 years in the workforce, this is my first experience being laid off - in fact, this is my first experience losing a job at all.

Every time I changed jobs in the past, I had already lined up my next position before giving notice. But this time, I received less than a week’s notice that my position would be ending.

Talk about stressful.

Add onto it that my wife and I just had our first child who only recently turned three months old and we’re waiting to secure the loan on our new-construction home. This sudden unemployment jeopardizes our entire plan, not to mention our down payment.

I don’t have much else to say about this other than we are hoping for the best.
